Long life with RA

If you were like me, once you were diagnosed with RA you started reading all about Rheumatoid Arthritis. You read all these HORRIBLE statistics. Makes you feel like you are doomed to have lymphoma, it will affect your heart (60% more likely to have a heart attack) and you’ll die early. I mean this disease really is horrible and anyone who has it is searching for hope.

Statistically, you will die 10 years earlier if you have RA.

Let’s stop talking about these HORRIBLE statistics. Let’s talk about someone beautiful and encouraging. My husband’s Granny who had Rheumatoid arthritis just passed away at the age of 91! I think most of us would be thrilled to live to such an age, but when you have RA and you live to that age while still being able to get up and about, that is just some exciting news.

Yes, her hands were deformed. Medicine has come a long way. I looked at her as an inspiration. Someone who didn’t have what we have medically when first diagnosed but did so much with her life and lived so long.
